Seventh Grade Sentiments | FASHION + FAITH

I'm pulling out all kinds of sentimental fun for this post! I don't know if you're ready for this. 🤗

So tonight I'm playing piano and music directing for Martin Smith (previously the front man for Delirious?). If you've followed worship music for any length of time, you've more than likely--probably definitely--sung his tunes, whether you realized or not! (A few include: "I Could Sing of Your Love Forever," "Did You Feel the Mountains Tremble," "Rain Down" and "History Maker.")

These are songs I grew up playing in the youth band at church, singing at camp, jamming on my boombox and belting out at Delirious? concerts (I probably have a band tee somewhere around here), but tonight I'm playing with THE Martin Smith himself! 13-year old Jessica couldn't even dream big enough to dream this day up! The fan-girling struggle is real.

In lieu of my 13-year-old dreams (that I didn't realize I had) coming true, I'm sharing a look that involves my 7th grade graduation outfit. WHAT?! See below a photo I dug up just for this special occasion. It's getting personal, y'all!

^^There I am in my floral set glory...v-neck blouse and ruffled skirt, complete with sequin detail.

I recently purchased this military jacket and was rummaging around the back of my closet looking for just the right pieces to pair with it when...ta-da! I stumbled onto this throwback skirt and I was crazy enough to try it on! Mom helped me make some alterations and I wore it as a midi dress instead of a maxi skirt. 🙃

Shopping links included sure to check out the under $6 earrings, and of course, this fabulous oversized jacket (under $60). So versatile with transitioning to fall!

Military jacket: ASOS (oversized fit -- I'm wearing the S/M) | Midi skirt: similar here | Purse: similar here (I think I found this particular one at Modcloth) | Earrings: Forever 21 (under $6!) | Eyeshadow: NARS (my go-to lately!)

Reliving my childhood in more ways than one today! I'll be busy with rehearsals leading up to tonight, but I'll do my best to document the fun on Insta stories and share a full blog post soon!

Much love xo
